Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Stack Precision — how it works, what it does and doesn't do, pricing, privacy, and how genetic data fits in.

What is Stack Precision?

Stack Precision is an iOS app for tracking your supplements, journaling how you feel, and using AI to find patterns in your own health data. You can build supplement stacks with dosages and schedules, log daily wellness entries, and ask the AI assistant questions grounded in your personal data. If you have genetic data from a consumer testing provider, you can import it for deeper context on how your body may respond to specific nutrients. The app is HIPAA-compliant and free to start.

Does Stack Precision tell me what supplements to take?

No. Stack Precision does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or replace medical advice. What it does is help you organize what you're taking, track how you feel over time, and explore patterns in your own data. The AI assistant may surface suggestions based on your profile and published research — these are starting points for your own research and conversations with your healthcare provider, not directives.

What genetic testing services work with Stack Precision?

Stack Precision supports raw data files from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, and most other major consumer genetic testing providers that export standard raw data formats. You upload your file directly into the app — it's parsed on your device and never stored on our servers.

Do I need genetic data to use the app?

No. The core features — supplement tracking, scheduling, journaling, and genetic upload with variant insights — all work on the free tier. Genetics is an optional layer that adds depth: if you upload your data, the app maps your variants across traits like methylation, detoxification, and vitamin metabolism. The AI conversation feature, which lets you ask questions grounded in your personal data, is available through a premium subscription.

How does the AI assistant work?

The AI assistant draws from your supplement log, journal entries, and (if uploaded) your genetic profile to answer questions about your own data. It references published research, including sources like ClinVar, dbSNP, and PubMed, and shows evidence tiers so you can assess the strength of what it finds. The AI does not diagnose, prescribe, or provide medical advice. It's a research tool for exploring your own information — anything it surfaces is meant to inform conversations with your healthcare provider.

Is Stack Precision HIPAA compliant?

Yes. Stack Precision is built on HIPAA-compliant infrastructure from day one. Your data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit using TLS 1.2+. Access is controlled, audited, and never sold. We treat your health data like medical records — because that's what it is.

Is my genetic data safe?

Your genetic file is parsed entirely on your device. The raw file is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. The variant data extracted from the file is encrypted and stored under the same HIPAA-compliant protections as the rest of your health data. You can delete your data at any time. We don't sell data, we don't share data, and there are no ads.

How is Stack Precision different from other supplement trackers?

Most supplement trackers are pill reminders — they tell you when to take something, but not whether it's working or why it might matter for your body specifically. Stack Precision combines supplement tracking with health journaling and AI pattern analysis, so you can see connections between what you take and how you feel over time. If you add your genetic data, the app also maps your variants to published research on nutrient metabolism, which no other consumer supplement tracker does.

What does Stack Precision cost?

Core supplement tracking, scheduling, journaling, and genetic data upload with variant insights are all free. The AI conversation feature is available through a premium subscription, normally $4.99/month. During our launch promotion, new users can lock in lifetime access for a one-time payment of $1.99. We pass AI costs through at cost — there's no markup on the AI credits you use.

Is Stack Precision available on Android?

Not yet, but very soon. Stack Precision is currently iOS only with Android in active development. You can join the waitlist on our website to be notified as soon as it's available.

Can I share my data with my doctor?

Yes. Your supplement log, journal entries, and genetic variant profile are all accessible within the app and designed to be useful in conversations with your healthcare provider. The app gives you organized, specific data to bring to appointments — what you're taking, how you've been feeling, and what your genetics suggest — rather than trying to recall it from memory.

What is MTHFR and why does it matter for supplements?

MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) is a gene that produces an enzyme involved in processing folate (vitamin B9). Variants in this gene — particularly C677T and A1298C — are relatively common and may reduce the enzyme's efficiency. This can affect how your body processes folic acid, the synthetic form found in most supplements and fortified foods. People with certain MTHFR variants may respond better to methylfolate (the active form) than to folic acid. This is an example of the kind of detail Stack Precision provides: the app maps your MTHFR variants and connects them to published research, giving you specific context to explore with your provider.

What is COMT and how does it relate to supplement choices?

COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase) is a gene involved in breaking down certain neurotransmitters, including dopamine and norepinephrine. The Val158Met variant affects enzyme speed — some people metabolize these compounds faster, others slower. This can influence how you respond to supplements that affect methylation, stress response, or B vitamin metabolism. For example, some people with slower COMT activity report sensitivity to high-dose methyl donors like methylfolate or methyl-B12. This is another example of the genetic context Stack Precision provides — the app shows your COMT variant status alongside relevant published research so you know what questions to ask.
